Metricae Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 21, 2026

The short version: Metricae does not collect your data. Everything stays on your iPhone.

What Metricae does with your photos

Metricae analyzes the photos you pick or take to suggest activity logs. All analysis happens on your device, using Apple's Vision framework and an on-device machine-learning model (MobileCLIP). Your photos are never uploaded, copied, or transmitted anywhere. Metricae stores only local references to photos and numeric fingerprints (embeddings) derived from them, in a database on your phone.

Camera

If you allow camera access, Metricae opens the camera only when you choose to log an activity with a new photo. That photo is analyzed on your device like any other.

Location

If you allow location access, Metricae reads your location only while the app is open, at the moment you take a photo in the app, to tag that log with the place it happened. Photos from your library use the location already stored in the photo, if any. Places are grouped on your device to suggest activities and tags. Location data is never transmitted.

What Metricae stores locally

This data is stored in a local database inside the app's own storage. It never leaves your device. Metricae has no server.

What Metricae does not do

Apple services

If you install Metricae through TestFlight or the App Store, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with us, subject to the choices you make in your device's privacy settings. That data is collected by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy, not by Metricae.

Data retention and deletion

Your data exists only on your device. Deleting an activity or log in the app deletes it from the local database. Deleting the app deletes everything.

Children

Metricae is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
